Igbo Mandate Congress IMC has reported that notable Igbo
politicians interested in 2023 elections are sabotaging the plot by the Buhari
regime to release Nnamdi KANU.
This was contained in a quarterly situation report to stakeholders
of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Igbo Elders Consultative Forum at Enugu on Thursday by
the Director General of Igbo Mandate Congress IMC, Rev Obinna Akukwe.
According to the Igbo leader, " Igbo Mandate Congress have
reached advanced stage in negotiations for the release of the leader of
Indigenous Peoples of Biafra IPOB with the Northern establishment, military and
security agencies and cabals within the Presidency but politicians of Igbo
extraction aware of our secret plot have frustrated the moves.
“We have contacted some traditional rulers and Muslim clerics to
put pressures on Buhari to show pity on Nnamdi KANU’s condition, since 2021 ,
but whenever the deal is about to be struck , some Igbo politicians interested
in 2023 elections will bring damning information that Kanu’s boys cannot be controlled,
and that the initiator of bloody of Sit
at Home should be made to Sit and Rot in DSS detention"
Akukwe asked the stakeholders and Igbo Elders to convince the politicians that Nnamdi KANU is not an impediment to anybody in 2023.
Akukwe said that though Simon Ekpa , commander of IPOB Auto-Pilot
is an irritant those clamoring for his rendition to Nigeria has no capacity to
do such because powerful forces in Finland are giving him protection. He noted that Simon Ekpa was a recent confidant
of Nnamdi Kanu until the feud between him and the DOS turned him into an
international irritant.
He said that Igbo Mandate Congress through its members in Europe ,
are pressurizing Simon Ekpa to abandon his plot to scuttle the 2023 polls and
so far the plot to burn down Peter Obi's banners and billboards as follow-up to
the December 9th-14th Sit at Home , has been suspended.
In his response, the Special Counsellor to Igbo Mandate Congress
and former governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife described
politicians sabotaging all efforts to release KANU as enemies of Ndigbo
According to Ezeife “it is unfortunate
that KANU is still in detention after the Court of Appeal Judgments discharging
him. It is equally unfortunate that our politicians are secretly behind his
ordeal.
" Buhari should not listen to the stomach
infrastructure politicians but rather hearken to the voice of reasonable
Ohanaeze elders so as to bring peace to the South East. He asked Simon Ekpa not
to spoil show for Ndigbo"
Dr Ezeife commends Igbo Mandate Congress peace
efforts in Nigeria and expressed willingness to follow wherever he is called for
guarantees for Nnamdi Kanu’s release.
They delegation later retired to discuss issues and
strategies concerning 2023 polls, concerns over Igbo voters in the North,
insecurity in the South East and the efforts being made to contain those bent
on causing mayhem during the elections .
