Gov Umahi to Islamize Ebonyi State -Gov Aspirant Alerts CAN as Igbo Mandate Congress Seeks Probe

 …Accuses INEC, PDP of seizing his PVC, Party Agents Tag

The Governorship Candidate of the National Rescue Movement, NRM Rev Gold Paschal Nwaigwe had alerted the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo of plot to Islamize Ebonyi state which he claimed the incumbent Governor Dave Umahi has promised Buhari if he wins a second term.

This was contained in a letter he sent to CAN, Ohanaeze, IPAC on Monday made available to Igbo Mandate Congress. He told the traditional rulers and clerics in the letter that the information is for their action.

“I am using this opportunity to alert all our Traditional Rulers and all well-meaning elders in Ebonyi State; so that they will not say we are not aware of Ebonyi State islamization project. Already in Afikpo lies the biggest Islamic training Centre in Africa, and, if you are well informed, that place is actually a Terrorist Training Centre and breeding ground for jihadist insurgency. Our women have married many of the Fulani's in Afikpo, making their children Moslems from birth and brain-washed with Islamic studies and fundamentalism”

Rev Nwaigwe while briefing the Director General of Igbo Mandate Congress in Abuja on Monday about the Ebonyi Islamization agenda claimed that he had informed the traditional rulers and clerics in the state who have been compromised by money of the implications of giving Umahi a second chance.

Rev Nwaigwe also claimed that he met man at the residence of the former governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, during an Imeobi Meeting of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in August last year and the said man from Plateau State explained in details the northern agenda of Islamizing Ebonyi state to him and some Igbo leaders present. This he also stated in his letter to CAN

“I met a comrade in Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife - Okwadike’s office recently; I was actually called in to come and hear from a man who was able to translate an Arabic booklet, which, I understand, arrives Nigeria on a yearly basis. It carries Islamic programs, instructions and execution strategies.

“He stumbled on South-East Islamization Project of which Ebonyi State is their launching ground, and from where, according to the document, from the South-East will be captured”.

Rev Nwaigwe believes that God has positioned him to deliver Ebonyi State from the throes of Islamization.

In another development the NRM candidate have denounced reports that he is among those who stepped down for   Governor Umahi. He told Rev Akukwe that he has already sent a letter to INEC and IPAC that he was not among those aspirants who stepped down and his letter was duly received by the electoral body. Part of the letter dated 9^th March read thus

“It has come to my knowledge that some phoney, gullible and disgruntled elements posing as chairman and members of National Rescue Movement criminally impersonated my person, titles and designations, and went to Ebonyi State Government House to grovel before Dave Umahi in a charade and show of shame, purporting to decamp from NRM and to ostensibly declare for PDP.”

“I hereby alert IPAC chairman, Ebonyi State chapter, and INEC Ebonyi State that both me and our great party NRM has nothing to do with that charade and show of shame as we are in good shape and form heading into 9th March 2019 elections.”

Rev Nwaigwe also wrote another letter to INEC querying why his PVC has not been given to him, five weeks after the previous written complaints and accused the electoral body of colluding with the PDP to disenfranchise him. He said that INEC deliberately gave his party agents tag to persons without his consent to ensure that his agents are not anywhere to record his votes. He alleged that his campaign posters are being removed by political thugs and his Deputy Director of Campaign, Ms.  Ginika Nguji who was severely stabbed by a PDP political thug identified as Shedrack Nworie while posting NRM campaign publicity materials at Arugo Ward, Ejiaji Umuara  is still in the hospital.

Meanwhile Igbo Mandate Congress had alerted the relevant Christian bodies of the alleged  Islamization agenda and had commenced investigation to determine the veracity of the information. Speaking with coordinators of the body in Abuja yesterday the Director General of IMC, Rev Obinna Akukwe warned that anything that can create religious tension in the South East should be avoided.

“Igbo Mandate Congress as a body is against any form of religious tension in Nigeria. We have even condemned severally the persecution of Shiites and detention of their leader, Sheikh El-Zakzaky and we view the developments in Ebonyi State as worrisome, especially when secret documents are flying here and there.  Governor Umahi who is reputed to have transformed Abakaliki to a modern city, should not destroy these legacies with religious overreach. “

“I am not against any Igbo man converting to Islam or a Muslim converting to Christianity and I believe in the secularity of Nigeria. After all Atiku’s Igbo wife is already a Muslim and Ohanaeze, Igbo leaders and Christian leaders were falling over themselves before her during the recent presidential election campaigns in the South East.. With the recent political false prophesies from Christian leaders I will not be surprised to see some disillusioned Igbos jettison their faith for Islam, however, let such conversions be a personal conviction and not a deliberate act of state because it could lead to  tension and anarchy in the South East, with ripple effects all over Nigeria”
