Igbo Mandate Congress IMC wants to bring to the attention of all Biafran protesters and agitators that the greatest genocide ever under the guise of stopping separatist MASSOB agitators was under the tenure of Peter Obi, as Governor of Anambra State, Achike Udenwa as Governor of Imo State and Olusegun Obasanjo as President of Nigeria.

Biafran agitators should hold these three men responsible for killing thousands of innocent civilians in the guise of seeking for members of Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB). Nigerian soldiers numbering over 200 were invited into Anambra State in June 2006 by Governor Peter Obi and in the process murdered estimated 5000 innocent Igbos in the guise of rooting out MASSOB agitators. This was done with the ever gleeful support of ex-president Obasanjo in the infamous operation ‘Shoot-at Sight Order’

During these periods that spanned till early 2009, Nigerian soldiers were on rampage at Onitsha, Nnewi, Oba, Ihiala and environs shooting, killing, and maiming anything that has a suspicion of being MASSOB. As the shootings were going on, real MASSOB members escaped into various dens while stranded travelers, unsuspecting trader and residents were branded MASSOB and shot.

By the time the exercise was over, estimated 5000 people were killed and the affected families took the remains of their relatives and buried quietly to avoid being killed too by the rampaging soldiers. All these wickedness was at the behest of an APGA Governor claiming to be a follower of ex Biafran leader Odumegwu Ojukwu

It is curious to the leadership of Igbo Mandate Congress, IMC, that the same people who ordered the massacre of thousands of Igbos under the guise of anti-Biafra stance in the past have now come out to secretly fund aspects of the pro Biafra agitations, and aspects of hate speeches against other tribes due to political downturn.

Therefore, as Igbos negotiate their way out of the Biafra quagmire in the Nigerian context, we must remind ourselves that the greatest enemies of Igbo common good is not Buhari, Tinubu and their APC. as being bandied now. It is Igbo politicians who corner the lot of their people for personal aggrandizement. It is Igbo politicians who invited Federal Troops to kill unarmed civilians without exhausting avenues of negotiations and diplomacy.

MASSOB issued a statement to that effect when its then Director of Information, (now factional leader of MASSOB), Mr. Uchenna Madu, speaking on behalf of the leader of MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike on the 12th of November, 2013,said that Peter Obi and Achike Udenwa are responsible for numerous death of Bafran agitators. According to Madu, “We hold Peter Obi responsible for the killings. This reminds us about the 2006 shoot-on-sight order by Governor Peter Obi who massacred about 2,000 MASSOB members.

“We shall arrest him and pay him back in his own coin in our own way immediately he steps down as the governor because his recent action of killing MASSOB members will heavily affect APGA chances of winning this election.”

In another statement issued by the leader of MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, and signed by MASSOB Deputy National Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha on the 12th of Aprili, 2014, the group alleged that the former governor and his Imo State counterpart, Dr. Achike Udenwa, had between 2003 and 2006 deployed federal troops from different states and allegedly ordered them to shoot MASSOB members at sight. According to the new MASSOB spokesman “Mr. Peter Obi and former Imo State governor, Dr. Achike Udenwa, had ordered the killing of MASSOB members between 2003 and 2006 and would be tried in court in due course. Obi had on May 11, 2006 under the Presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo deployed over 200 federal troops most of who were of Hausa and Fulani tribes to Onitsha and issued a shoot-at-sight order to them. Thousands of our members were killed, including a pregnant woman and 65 others still missing,”

Kenneth Anyanwu, MASSOB director of information, told Newswatch that MASSOB was on its way to a solidarity rally in Okigwe in support of American war against terrorism in Iraq when a combined team of the armed mobile policemen laid ambush and opened fire on them. Anyanwu accused Governor Achike Udenwa of Imo State of being behind the killing of MASSOB members. He said Ralph Uwazuruike, MASSOB leader, was arrested and detained at the Imo State police headquarters near Government House, Owerri, before the Presidency ordered his transfer to Force Headquarters, Abuja , on Monday, March 31, 2005.

Soon corpses of MASSOB members were allegedly killed under the nose of Peter Obi and Presidency of Goodluck Jonathan and thrown into Ezu River. According to MASSOB Director of Information, Mr Uchenna Madu’s statement of February 6th, 2013, the corpses found floating on Ezu River in Amansea community were MASSOB members, who were arrested in the state and secretly executed by the security agents without proper trial to cover their tracks.

Madu said: “MASSOB with deep sense of grief and sorrow wishes to inform Mr. Ban Ki Moon (UN Secretary General), President Goodluck Jonathan, US president, Barrack Obama, United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) and Amnesty International about the gruesome murder of MASSOB members by the Special Anti-Robbery Squared SARS, of Nigeria Police Force, Awkuzu Anambra State.”

He said some of the MASSOB members identified as Basil Ogbu, Michael Ogwa, Sunday Omogo, Philip Nwankpa, Eze Ndubisi, Ebuka Eze, Obinna Ofor, Joseph Udoh and Uchechukwu Ejiofor were arrested at the MASSOB security office Onitsha, Anambra State on November 9, 2012 by a combined team of Nigeria security agents (Army, Police and SSS) and were later handed over to SARS headquarters, Awkuzu Anambra State where they were detained until their suspicious disappearance.

Igbo Mandate Congress demand a public inquiry into all the killings of MASSOB, IPOB, Biafra Zionist and other Biafra groups to determine who invited the soldiers, levels of atrocities and levels of culpability at various levels of authority. The inquiry should also determine whether all avenues of diplomacy and peace were exhausted before the violent use of force was authorized. The inquiry should determine the identity of all the thousands of non-MASSOB members gruesomely murdered and let the indicted public officers be made to apologize publicly.

This public inquiry will definitely expose the level at which Igbo politicians paved the way for all the bloodshed. We have never heard that any Yoruba Governor invited soldiers to kill OPC members. We never herd that any South South Governor invited soldiers to kill militants.

Blaming President Muhammadu Buhari, whose government is just six months, for all the atrocities against Ndigbo, while the real culprit meander away, is not correct and not according to the laws of natural justice. Olusegun Obasanjo, Peter Obi, Achike Udenwa and their cheer leaders must apologize for genocide against innocent people, then the healing process can start.

The Federal Government should release Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB Protesters. They should also release Ben Onwuka of Biafran Zionist Movement languishing in Enugu Prisons for hosting Biafran Flag in a Radio Station. and all MASSOB members in detention, rehabilitate them and send them home.

They should speed up an inquiry to audit the causes of death of thousands of innocent civilians under the guise of stopping MASSOB agitations. If these steps are taken urgently, lots of tempers will cool down and the agitators can come to a round table. Any advise to the contrary is self serving and will compound the already waiting time bomb.

Nnamdi Kanu plots to used Enugu incident to frustrate Igbo presidency- MASSOB

The Igbo leader, made this statement through, MASSOB leader, Uchenna Madu, who said the group alerted southeast politicians that the plot was targeted at frustrating the efforts of achieving the 2023 Igbo presidency ambition.

“What happened in Enugu on Sunday between IPOB and combined security forces of Nigeria was not a clash or a confrontation but a systematic plot, an act of terrorism, hatched and orchestrated by the presidency to inflict fear that will demoralize the surging rise, clamor, and support for Biafra and Nigerian president of Igbo extraction,” the group asserted.

“The loose venom of pathological hatred by this present administration against Ndigbo and Christians in general on Sunday in Enugu further proved our earlier revelation of conspiracy and plot to push back the political emancipation of Ndigbo in Nigeria.

“It is a well-known fact that all pro-Biafra agitators including MASSOB, IPOB, EPC, BNYL, BIM, MOBIN, etc. are non-violent and do not use arms. It is also on record that none of these groups have indulged in any act of terrorism, violence, or killingsAngry reactions trail killing of IPOB members in Enugu - Vanguard News

“Why should the Nigerian police embark on a deceitful mission of blackmailing the peaceful and non-violent members of IPOB that they were engaged in firing spree with the agents of DSS that led to the combined team of Nigeria armed security forces to heavily descend on them in a war-like a scenario during their meeting at Emene, Enugu on Sunday which resulted on the death of innocent and defenseless citizens of Biafra?

“What happened in Enugu on Sunday between IPOB and combined security forces of Nigeria were not a clash or a confrontation but a systematic plot, an act of terrorism, hatched and orchestrated by the presidency to inflict fear that will demoralize the surging rise, clamor, and support for Biafra and Nigerian president of Igbo extraction.

“They fronted the DSS to provoke members of IPOB to an assault but IPOB members refused to fall into their trap, but because it was a designed mission that must be accomplished, the DSS opened fire on defenseless citizens, the police, army and Air Force immediately joined them in the brutality of IPOB members and terrorizing the inhabitants of Enugu City.

“MASSOB calls the attention of Igbo political leaders, irrespective of their political party or affiliation that they are the main target of this latest assault. It is against the political emancipation of Ndigbo in Nigeria they seem to lead; it is about 2023 general election. It is all about wounding the morale of Igbo socio-political leaders. It is about creating fear among the Igbo populace towards 2023. Ndigbo must rise now in defense of our fatherland. Injustice to an Igbo is an injustice against all Igbos irrespective of political differences.

“The presidency is using pro-Biafra agitators as their testing ground of wounding and inflicting injurious blow that will demoralize the chances of Igbo political emancipation in 2023. They knew that pro-Biafra agitators are a heavy factor to be reckoned with in 2023 towards Igbo political emancipation.

“MASSOB reiterates its earlier resolved decision that no amount of treachery and subtle clampdown, attacks, killings, arrest, mesmerization, prosecution by the Nigerian state will deter us from the Biafra actualization and restoration struggle.”

Igbo Socio?Cultural Think Tank Bemoan Killing of Youths by DSS in Enugu

Bemoan Killing of Youths by Security Agents Uzoko Umunna, an Igbo socio-cultural think tank has condemned what it described as the constant killing of unarmed Igbo youths by security operatives. The group gave this stance while reacting to the killings that occurred on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Emene, Enugu State involving Igbo youths and operatives of the Nigerian Police, Department of State Service (DSS) and Nigerian Army.

Police confirm two DSS operatives, four others dead in clash with IPOB

Nzuko Umunna noted that the extra-judicial killings took place when security operatives invaded a peaceful meeting of the youths, while the Enugu State Commissioner of Police Ahmed Abdurahman conceded that many of the youths “escaped with bullet wound and police have started tracing them.”

In a statement on Monday signed by Ngozi Odumuko, Coordinator and Paschal Mbanefo and Secretary, Nzuko Ummunna, said it received the report with shock and deep concern . “We note with grave concern the constant killing of unarmed Igbo youths by security operatives. This is unacceptable and must stop. However, we urge Igbo youths to refrain from retaliatory attacks. “It is noteworthy that extra-judicial killings are a violation of the right to life as enshrined in Section 33 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999; Article 4 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights (ACHPR), and Article 6 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR)”, the group said.

It commiserated with all the families that lost their loved ones in the latest bloodletting. Nzuko Umunna however commended the Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his prompt visit to the scene of the extra-judicial killings. “In particular, we urge the Governor to set up a Judicial Panel of Inquiry to unravel the immediate and remote causes of these wanton killings including the exact number of victims, with a view to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

The group urged the South East Governors Forum (SEGF) and the South East Joint Security Committee to urgently activate the long-awaited regional security network to reassure citizens on the security of lives and property, and to find ing a sustainable framework towards resolving the longstanding security challenges and extra-judicial killings in the region. It called on the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Honourable Justice Priscilla Emehelu to urgently convene a coroner’s inquest on these extra-judicial killing

Parallel Ohanaeze is unstoppable as Igbo Mandate Congress Sues for Probe

The traditional ruler of Igbariam and Chairman Board of Trustees of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly, HRM Eze DR Kelly Nkeli Nzekwe, has said that the parallel Ohanaeze is unstoppable.

Speaking with the Director General of Igbo Mandate Congress IMC, Rev Obinna Akukwe at Awka, the monarch said that there is no going back on the newly registered Ohanaeze. When reminded by Rev Akukwe that the newly registered group has been disowned and deregistered by the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, Eze Okalakwu Nkeli Nzekwe said that “there is no way somebody can get a PHD and the university will later withdraw it. The group we registered cannot be deregistered. Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly is not afraid of the CAC and we are carrying on our activities. CAC cannot intimidate us, we have passed that stage”.

War over Ohanaeze – The Sun Nigeria

When reminded again by Rev Akukwe that the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Elders Council, Chiefs Nnia Nwodo and Mbazulike Amechi have dismissed the body as bunch of selfish persons, Igwe Nkeli told the leaders of Igbo Mandate Congress that high level corruption, selfishness and greed is at the root of their registering a new Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

According to the monarch, “it is the deposed Ohanaeze Ndigbo that used Ndigbo to do business. They are busy collecting money from every government and groups while Igbo youths are suffering. They are using Igbos to make money and the records are clear. They have not attracted any meaningful development to Igbo land except sharing money”

Igwe Nkeli said that “Elders cannot stay in the house and a she goat will deliver with umbilical cord. There is no way we can sit by and allow Ndigbo to be used by persons with defined personal agenda. Enough is enough” He Said that the proliferation of Igbo Groups, including IPOB, is as a result of the failure Of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to present Igbo positions properly”.

Igwe Nkeli said that they were called back to Aso Rock last week and met with Buhari and his men and expressed appreciation for the work ongoing at the Second Niger Bridge and Enugu Airport. They also asked President Buhari to decree more projects for Ndigbo so that the levels of unemployment and sufferings in the region will be reduced and the youth put into useful purposes. Igwe Nkeli said that Igboland needs more intervention than we have now.

Igbo Mandate Congress has decried the deplorable state of Ohanaeze Ndigbo National Secretariat in Enugu. In a parley with select church leaders in Awka yesterday concerning the viability of Igbo Presidency project, the Director General of Igbo Mandate Congress, Rev Obinna Akukwe condemned the pulling down of the fence of Ohanaeze Secretariate and the exposure of the nakedness of Igbo Headquarters.

According to Rev Akukwe “what I saw in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretariat was very deplorable. The walls are pulled down and the place looks unkept. It is unfortunate that with all the money Ohanaeze collects from politicians, including the N1.2 billion naira shared at Chelsea Hotel, Abuja in December 2014 and another N5billion collected to be shared in Enugu in February 2015, in preparation for polls, the body cannot apportion at least N500 million of the sum to renovate the facility”

He condemned former Governor Rochas Okorocha for not completing the white structure he embarked upon in the secretariat and called for probe of profligacy in the body. Rev Akukwe asked for truce between the members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Chief Nnia Nwodo and the one pioneered by Igwe Nkeli Nzekwe so that the Igbo Presidency Project will not be truncated from within.

Igbo Mandate Congress learnt that the parallel Ohanaeze Ndigbo is led by Igwe Nkeli Nzekwe (Chairman Board of Trustees), Barrister Basil Onyeachonam Onuorah (President Genreral), Barrister Arthur Chukwu (Secretary General) Dikeoha Hon Kingsley Nnalue (Publicity Secretary) and Barrister Emejulu Okpalaukwu (Igbo Security Adviser)
